Hello World: Building Infrastructure in the Open

Why I am starting this journey

Hello! My name is Sergio Montero. I am an Infrastructure & Operations Engineer with a passion for automation, cloud-native technologies, security an AI.

For a long time, I have been learning and working behind the scenes. However, in 2026, I decided it was time to change that. I am launching Cortinel as my personal laboratory—a space to document my technical journey, share my findings, and connect with the global tech community.

My Goals for 2026

This year, my focus is clear. I am documenting my preparation for two major milestones:

  1. CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator): Mastering the ins and outs of cluster management.
  2. CKS (Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist): Deep diving into the security layer of the cloud-native ecosystem.

What to expect from this blog

In this space, I will be writing about:

  • Kubernetes & Orchestration: Real-world challenges and solutions.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Making operations scalable and repeatable.
  • Observability: Understanding what is actually happening in our systems.
  • Security: Building “Security by Design” into our infrastructure.

Facing the fear of “Public Learning”

Sharing knowledge in English is also a personal challenge to improve my communication skills and reach an international audience. I believe that teaching is the best way to learn, and by documenting my mistakes and successes, I hope to help others in the I&O field.

Stay tuned for more technical deep dives!
